Georgian 1800s Linen Press from Beaufort
Circa early to mid 1800s, meaning this large lady is nearly 200 years old! She looks incredible for her age. A family heirloom from here in Beaufort, it was in pieces when we acquired it, so we performed a partial restoration to maintain all of the years of character while making it stable, beautiful and functional once more. Some of the shelves slide outward or can easily be removed altogether to create a display you're happy with (part of the original design.)
The hardware and key escutcheons are all original. The piece is solid walnut with veneered drawer fronts, but the showstoppers are the huge single boards that each cabinet door is made of. Can you imagine how large that tree would have been to create boards that wide?
We envision this at the end of hallway, in a kitchen as a pantry, or in a large bathroom as a linen "closet." We love it closed, or with the doors wide open. Imagine it filled with minimal labeled glass jars full of grains, nuts and seeds. (It makes a gorgeous retail display as well!) No matter where you choose to use it, it will be both functional and a true statement piece. It is ready to love for another 200 years.
Measures 84” tall x 48” wide x 23.5” deep. Comes apart in 2 pieces for easier transport.
